Catholic Charities Dallas is seeking pro bono attorneys to support clients through critical legal matters in Asylum & Immigration. These volunteer opportunities are well suited for attorneys with 1–2 years of experience who are looking to build skills while making a meaningful impact.

Volunteer attorneys will work closely with Catholic Charities Dallas’ experienced legal team, which remains actively involved in case strategy, client communication, and supervision.

Many cases involve multilingual clients (typically Spanish). Experience working with interpreters or diverse populations is helpful but not required.

Available Pro Bono Focus Areas Asylum & Immigration Law

Volunteer attorneys may assist with:

Preparing and filing asylum applications for defensive cases (Form I-589)

Supporting cases involving withholding of removal and protections such as U-Visa or TPS

Representing clients before DHS and USCIS

Assisting with removal proceedings before EOIR, including drafting briefs and motions and appearing in court with staff support

Trust & Guardianship

Volunteer attorneys may assist with:

Drafting and reviewing estate planning documents, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives

Supporting trust administration filings

Assisting clients with understanding fiduciary duties, estate planning considerations

Qualifications Education & Licensing

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school

Active license and good standing with a state bar

Admission before relevant courts (EOIR for immigration cases)

Experience

1–2 years of professional legal experience in:

Asylum and immigration law

Strong interest and foundational exposure may be considered in place of extensive experience.

Skills & Competencies

Ability to draft legal documents such as petitions, motions, briefs, and estate planning instruments

Comfort appearing in court or working toward courtroom experience with supervision

Cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and empathy when working with vulnerable populations

Ability to collaborate with staff attorneys and follow established case protocols

The Community Health Clinic (CHC) provides non-urgent, quality healthcare for low-income, uninsured families living in Collin County. Our exceptional volunteer healthcare providers and community volunteers work together alongside clinical staff to serve the uninsured who need a health home the most. The position will possess a strong foundation in primary care. They will be responsible for managing chronic diseases, for example diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and asthma. The provider will work closely with patients from diverse backgrounds and collaborate with the clinic team. The physician is able to volunteer accordingly to their preferred schedule.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Independently assess and document clinical problems in your area of expertise. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, in accordance with HIPPA regulations and best practice. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies. Order appropriate medication and treatments and complete refill requests. Educate patients and their families about health issues, preventive care and healthy lifestyle choices. Requirements: Must be currently licensed for the practice of medicine in the State of Texas. Ability to work with diverse populations and age groups. Passion for serving the underserved and uninsured. Ability to work as an effective member of a dedicated team of volunteers and staff. Time Commitment:

The clinic is open Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Some evenings 4:00pm-6:00pm and Saturdays are available. Commitments accepted as little as one day per month based on your availability: 4, 6 or 8hr. shift available.

CHC provides free malpractice insurance for all medical providers

As a volunteer tutor, you’ll play a vital role in helping young learners build confidence in English, improve academic skills, and adjust to a new educational system. Whether it’s through one-on-one tutoring or group learning, your support will help bridge gaps in education and open doors to new opportunities.

With just 2-4 hours per week, you can provide virtual tutoring from the comfort of your home while making a meaningful difference in a student’s life.

What You'll Do Provide academic support in English, reading, and writing. Encourage language development through engaging conversations and activities. Create a supportive learning environment tailored to the student’s needs. Offer mentorship and guidance to build confidence and independence. Collaborate with foster parents and IFC program staff to ensure student progress. Track student achievements and submit monthly progress reports.
