Join our team as a VITA Volunteer and make a positive impact in your community by providing free tax preparation assistance to individuals and families with low to moderate incomes. As a VITA volunteer, you’ll receive comprehensive training to help eligible taxpayers complete their tax returns accurately and effectively.

Key Responsibilities: 

Prepare and file basic/advanced federal tax returns for eligible taxpayers Conduct client interviews to gather necessary information and verify tax documents  Ensure all returns are completed in compliance with IRS guidelines and VITA quality standards before being returned to the client Ensure a copy of the return is provided to the client Provide exceptional customer service, answering tax-related questions and guiding clients through the tax preparation process Maintain confidentiality and security of all client information Participate in VITA training sessions and pass the IRS certification exams (training provided)Assist with administrative duties as needed, such as scheduling appointments and organizing tax documents

Qualifications:

No prior tax preparation experience is necessary (training is provided in Mid-December and/or early January) Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds Comfortable working with basic computer software and online tax preparation tools  Must be willing to complete IRS certification exams ( Advanced, and Ethics) prior to the start of the tax season (starting February 2026) Commitment to volunteer for a minimum of one shift per weekA positive attitude, patience, and a desire to help others Benefits of Volunteering: · Gain valuable experience in tax preparation and customer service Receive free training and IRS certification Make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families in your community Be part of a supportive team and build new skills

As a Check-In Volunteer at our Tax Assistance Site, you will be the first point of contact for clients, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported during their visit. Your primary role is to manage the check-in process efficiently, guiding clients to the services they need. By helping create a smooth and professional experience, you play a key role in reducing the stress often associated with tax preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Welcome clients warmly and answer any initial questions they may have. Assist clients in signing in and completing necessary forms or documentation. Notify case managers or team members when clients arrive. Organize and maintain the intake area to ensure a steady and efficient flow. Assist with administrative tasks, including filing, organizing, and data entry. Respect and uphold confidentiality of all client information.

What Makes a Successful Volunteer? Friendly and approachable demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow intake protocols. Basic computer skills or willingness to learn. Patience and empathy, especially in high-pressure situations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. With just 2-4 hours per week, you can provide virtual tutoring from the comfort of your home while making a meaningful difference in a student’s life.

What You'll Do Provide academic support in English, reading, and writing. Encourage language development through engaging conversations and activities. Create a supportive learning environment tailored to the student’s needs. Offer mentorship and guidance to build confidence and independence. Collaborate with foster parents and IFC program staff to ensure student progress. Track student achievements and submit monthly progress reports.

The Community Health Clinic (CHC) provides non-urgent, quality healthcare for low-income, uninsured families living in Collin County. Our exceptional volunteer healthcare providers and community volunteers work together alongside clinical staff to serve the uninsured who need a health home the most. The Register Nurse (RN) performs a wide variety of medical and clinical support functions in an outpatient clinical setting. Our volunteer RN’s provide support for our medical providers and are the first point of care for our patients. The RN will work closely with patients from diverse backgrounds and collaborate with the clinic team

What You'll Do Obtain patient vital signs, medical history, chart preparation, medication dosage and frequency, patient’s allergens, and assist with medical examinations. Ensure complete and proper documentation of all patient care in their medical record. Provide instructions and directions to patients regarding diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments. Provide patient instruction and educational materials as needed What Makes a Successful Volunteer Graduation from an accredited nursing school. Current State of Texas RN or LVN certification. The provider will work closely with patients from diverse backgrounds and collaborate with the clinic team. The physician is able to volunteer accordingly to their preferred schedule.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Independently assess and document clinical problems in your area of expertise. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, in accordance with HIPPA regulations and best practice. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies. Order appropriate medication and treatments and complete refill requests. Educate patients and their families about health issues, preventive care and healthy lifestyle choices. Requirements: Must be currently licensed for the practice of medicine in the State of Texas. Ability to work with diverse populations and age groups. We are seeking a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner with a strong foundation in primary care to help manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma. In this role, you will work closely with patients from diverse backgrounds and collaborate with the clinic team to provide essential medical care.

What You’ll Do: Independently assess and document clinical problems. Perform and document assessments and patient histories. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies. Order appropriate medication and treatments and complete refill requests. Educate patients and their families about health issues, preventive care and healthy lifestyle choices What Makes a Successful Volunteer? Valid and current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license with recognition as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas. Valid and current national board certification by AANC or AANP as a Nurse Practitioner. Ability to work with diverse populations and age groups. A passion to help the underserved and uninsured. Ability to work as an effective member of a dedicated team of volunteers and paid staff
