By helping immigrants apply for citizenship, we are assisting them to reach their last goal in their immigration process. Many citizens can get better wages and provide a better life for their families, and the ability to vote in elections is a crucial part of our democracy. The process is complex and long and being able to assist them is a wonderful experience and with a positive outcome.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Screen potential applicants
- Help naturalization applicants complete the N-400 Application for Naturalization
- Assist clients in completing citizenship form
- Preparing packets for mailing
What makes a successful volunteer:
- Bilingual Spanish (preferred, but not required)
- Ability to revise and verify information
- Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
- Attending training before the event
- Maintaining professionalism and can respect the confidentiality of individuals applying for naturalization
- Keeping a positive attitude
Dress code: Business Casual
Training: Training will be sent out the week of the event.
