Volunteer: ILS Administrative Volunteer

Catholic Charities Dallas’ Immigration Legal Services (ILS) department provides trusted legal support to immigrants seeking U.S. citizenship and other immigration benefits. Our team of attorneys, legal staff, and trained volunteers walk alongside clients through every step—from paperwork to workshops and legal consultations.

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with administrative and legal support tasks that directly impact how quickly and effectively we can serve our clients.

Position Purpose & Impact

Your work helps:

Keep case files organized and up-to-date for faster processing.Ensure clients receive timely updates and appointments.Increase the department’s capacity to serve more families in need.Directly support individuals applying for DACA, I-90 renewals, and citizenship.

Duties & Responsibilities

Remove staples/tabs and scan client files into the internal case management system.Mail processing, answering emails, answering phones or returning voicemail calls, as needed. (main need)Assist with sorting, opening, and distributing mail related to client cases.Help prepare materials and assist with citizenship workshops.Provide assistance to the LOPC team with administrative needs.Handle confidential legal documents with discretion and accuracy.

Qualifications & Skills

Ability to focus on repetitive tasks for extended periodsComputer literacy and comfort using office equipmentHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skillsBilingual (English/Spanish) preferredRespect for client privacy and ability to handle confidential informationA helpful, courteous, and team-oriented attitudeAbility to adapt in a fast-paced legal environment

We are seeking pro bono attorneys to assist with both defensive (immigration court) and affirmative (USCIS) cases.

All pro bono attorneys intending to take on individual cases (non-pro se) must provide the below before they begin volunteering.
