Duties/Responsibilities:
- Screen potential applicants
- Assisting clients fill out legal paperwork:
- I-589 Asylum application
- I-821 Temporary Protected Status
- I-765 Work Employment Authorization
- G-28 Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney
- I-912 Fee Waiver
- Preparing packets for mailing: Making copies, scanning, and organizing
What makes a successful volunteer:
- Lawyers, Law Students, Legal Professionals preferred
- Ability to revise and verify information
- Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
- Completing training before the event
- Maintaining professionalism and can respect the confidentiality of individuals receiving services
- Keeping a positive attitude
Dress code: Business Casual
Age Requirements: This event is for ages 18+.
Commitment: Our clients are counting on you to help them assist in their application, and with your help applicants can benefit from several new opportunities such as increased employment prospects, , and freedom to travel If you are unable to complete the full shift, then please log into your account and cancel your registration. We hope you can join us another time.
Training: You will receive an email with a training video to help guide you filling out applications that apply to the workshop. Documents will vary each workshop depending on needs of client.
