Children’s Services at Catholic Charities Dallas is seeking a bi-lingual volunteer to provide one hour of religious activity per week in Spanish for the St Mary's Center for Children (SMCC). This volunteer will lead faith-based activities to unaccompanied minors currently in our care. The volunteer must have the understanding that the children that we serve come from a variety of backgrounds. The religious activities do not necessarily need to be Catholic, yet should be focused on allowing children to learn more about faith. Most of the children we serve are Christian. Some resources can be provided by CCD, and supplemented as desired or necessary by the volunteer.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to explain Christian OR Catholic faith to young people at an age-appropriate level.
- Willingness to offer patience, compassion, and guidance to help youth with limited English proficiency.
- Regular communication with the program’s Volunteer Supervisor.
- Respecting confidentiality of vulnerable clients.
- Ensure appropriate boundaries are set and being met.
- Follow the agency policies and procedures.
