The Community Health Clinic (CHC) provides non-urgent, quality healthcare for low-income, uninsured families living in Collin County. Our exceptional volunteer healthcare providers and community volunteers work together alongside clinical staff to serve the uninsured who need a health home the most. The position will possess a strong foundation in primary care. They will be responsible for managing chronic diseases, for example diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and asthma. The provider will work closely with patients from diverse backgrounds and collaborate with the clinic team. The physician is able to volunteer accordingly to their preferred schedule.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently assess and document clinical problems in your area of expertise.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, in accordance with HIPPA regulations and best practice.
- Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.
- Order appropriate medication and treatments and complete refill requests.
- Educate patients and their families about health issues, preventive care and healthy lifestyle choices.
Requirements:
- Must be currently licensed for the practice of medicine in the State of Texas.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and age groups.
- Passion for serving the underserved and uninsured.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a dedicated team of volunteers and staff.
Time Commitment:
The clinic is open Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Some evenings 4:00pm-6:00pm and Saturdays are available. Commitments accepted as little as one day per month based on your availability: 4, 6 or 8hr. shift available.
