Mater Maria is seeking a compassionate and reliable Volunteer Driver to provide essential transportation assistance to mothers and their babies residing in our program. Your support will help them access vital services and appointments, significantly impacting their well-being and stability. By volunteering, you play a crucial role in helping them overcome barriers, access opportunities, and build a brighter future.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Use personal vehicle to transport mothers to various appointments, including WIC, SNAP, healthcare visits, job interviews, and other necessary destinations.
- Maintain a schedule to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
- Coordinate with the program supervisor to receive transportation requests.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of passengers during transit.
- Provide occasional assistance, such as carrying items or accompanying mothers during appointments if needed.
- Maintain the safety and upkeep of the personal vehicle used for transportation.
**Please note: At this time, Catholic Charities Dallas cannot provide mileage reimbursement.
Time Commitment
- Minimum of one day per week.
- Availability for at least 5 hours on the chosen day to accommodate longer or further appointments.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Completion of a Defensive Driving Course.
- Proof of personal vehicle insurance (minimum liability limits of $100,000/$300,000).
- Compassionate and patient demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and punctuality in fulfilling assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of clients.
- Familiarity with local resources and services available to homeless individuals is a plus.
