Hands That Help: Food Box Assembly for Residents

Description

When we come together, we make access possible. We’re  seeking volunteers to join us at Joe’s Pantry on the 1st and 4th Monday of every month, to help assemble food boxes for residents living at City Walk and the Cottages. These are two of our housing sites that provide subsidized housing and permanent supportive housing for individuals who were formerly unhoused. Many residents face transportation barriers, and your time and care help ensure they can access nutritious food with dignity and ease.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Volunteers will work as a team to:

  • Shop the pantry” by selecting food items for residents who have signed up ahead of time
  • Assemble individual food orders
  • Pack items into milk crates
  • Label each crate with the resident’s name and apartment number
  • Place completed crates onto pallets for delivery

We anticipate assembling 80–100 food boxes, depending on sign‑ups. Every crate packed represents nourishment, stability, and compassion.

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back and make a real impact in just a few hours, this is it.

Dress code: Closed-toe shoes are required (no sandals or flip flops). We recommend dressing in comfortable and casual clothes suitable for the season.

Age Requirements: 14 is the minimum age. Volunteers 14-17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times & must submit their Minor Volunteer Waiver before the shift.
